Based in North Carolina, the Charlotte Hornets are currently owned by basketball icon Michael Jordan who acquired controlling interest in the team in 2010.

The original Hornets franchise was established in 1988 as an expansion team, owned by George Shinn, and went through quite a few changes before becoming the franchise Charlotte Hornets Ticket Holders love to watch play today.

After several seasons in North Carolina, the franchise moved to New Orleans in 2002 and became the New Orleans Hornets.
